Update/Review/Post Thingy

Time for another update, with just one month to go in 2020. It's been quite the year and even though much of it has sucked mightily, at least I did get a lot of writing stuff done. I finished writing The Forsaken early in the year and during the break to let the draft simmer for a while, I both started on Book 3 and updated my website quite a bit, so it wasn't just a super boring page on the internets. It's still pretty basic and definitely amateur, but it's got some fun content on it, so yay. Around the end of March, I began to edit The Forsaken and kept working on Book 3 the days I needed a break. That took all spring, but with the help of my siblings, I got it ready for publication by July. After that, I took a small break before getting into the third book heavily. It's been a lot of work and with the different POV's, it's been a challenge, but it's slowly taking shape.

On Wednesday, I broke 100K words. I love hitting that milestone. It usually means I'm getting close to done, but in this case, the draft is gonna be pretty long. I've still got a lot to do, but things are shaping up, coming together to a defined ending. As a pantser, I don't do a lot of planning. I mostly come up with a few ideas and then just go for it, with only general destinations and plots in mind. So, for most of this draft, I haven't known how all my threads would tie together, but the other week, I had an epiphany and it really cleared up the vague ideas floating in my head. It actually helped me out of a bit of a stall and get back on track. Some plans I had for this book, I realized that I would have to save for later books, but that's fine, it'll still work out. Now, with the draft mostly figured out, I think it shouldn't be too long for me to complete it, hopefully in the next two or three months. Of course, I never make my deadlines, so it'll probably be longer than that. Oh well.

After that's all done, I'll have one heck of an edit to do. I know for sure that it'll be much larger and longer than the previous edits, what with all the POV's and the length of the draft, plus I already know of scenes I need to change earlier on. But, that's all part of the fun of writing.

In other news, I worked up another track for my soundtrack project. I called it A Fallen Order and it's meant for the Free Knights. More specifically, it's for the memory of them, their legend, remembered by those who saw them, knew them before their fall. You can check it out on the Homepage. The song is nowhere near professional, as I'm a complete noob at this stuff, but I think I am improving a bit. I believe that this song and the one before it, The King's Might, are the best two I've composed. Both me and my siblings have got the songs stuck in our heads, so at the very least, I've made them catchy. This is still a side project, I only work on it every once in a while, when I'm not quite feeling the writing juices. Still I've created six tracks in just over three and a half months, while hacking out like 45K words. I hope to eventually have a playlist long enough to listen to while writing, but at this point it ends before I can really get into the groove. Still, I quite enjoy doing it, it's a fun change of pace, while still contributing to my world and atmosphere of my story.

That's about it. I hope to finish the year off strong and with Covid stuff making holiday gatherings kind of hard, I'll have a lot of time to write this December. Hopefully I can get in another 20K or more. That would be nice. Thanks to anyone reading this, you are a cool human. Adios.
