Beta Time!

I finished Book 2 a couple days ago, well this draft anyway, and sent it off to a couple beta readers. They'll be going through it, looking for mistakes and oversights, plot-holes and inconsistencies. They'll find some, I'm sure. I make many mistakes. I also hope they can enjoy the book while going over it with a fine-toothed comb, because that's really what it's all about. I want to give people a story they can enjoy, one they can recommend to their friends, one where they look forward to the next part. And I think people will really be looking forward to Book 3 at the end.
One of the best improvements I made to this draft was adding a couple scenes (maybe 6?) from the villain's POV. It sets everything up and keeps him relevant, as well as greatly expanding his character and making him a much more interesting character, because up till now, he had really only been a name the characters feared. Now, he is a very flawed, human character I hope the audience will like.
Now that I'm just waiting for the betas, I've begun Book 3. Well, technically I'd started it before, but now I'm actually focusing on it and I'm already over 10K words in just three days of writing. Despite how sucky this whole quarantine thing has been, it has improved my writing, so hooray. Book 3 is going to be a huge project. There will be two separate plot-lines for at least half the book, probably more that converge at the end. Also, I'm continuing with antagonist POV's but they will be different characters than the king. It will also be bringing the whole Giala vs King thing more to the forefront. The first two books, it was certainly present, but more of a behind the scenes kind of thing. Book 3 will have that in much more detail and depth. I'll also be doing some things in Book 3 that I've set up in the first two books, things that people might be wondering about and will finally get answers to. It's gonna be fun.
All in all, I;m very happy with where my writing is right now. I hope to have The Forsaken ready for publication by June, but I guess we'll see.
Adios amigos.
