The Journey To Finish Book 2

It's been a while since I posted one of these and in the long gap between, I have been hard at work on finishing Book 2, which I am now almost certain is going to be named The Forsaken. It makes sense with the story, it sounds cool and considering most of the story takes place in the city of Saken, it is also kind of a pun, so that's a win.
But, writing this second installation in The Sixth Order has been no cakewalk. I have had a significantly harder time writing this one compared to the first, which is partially due to having two POV's. I do enjoy writing from both Levi and Cody's perspectives, as it lends to diversity, but it does make the writing a bit more difficult. Another thing that adds to the difficulty level is that since this is Book 2, I must continue storylines from Book 1, as well as create all new ones for the second story. Tying them together has been no small task and has left me confused time and again. There is even a portion early on in the book that I skipped, because I wasn't sure where it was supposed to go and I wanted to wait to see if writing the rest of the book would help me figure it out, and it has. I now know what is supposed to go in that missing section.
Presently, I am on Chapter 25 of Book 2, which is nearing the climax of the book, well at least half of it. It is split up into two parts because of the two POV's, but this way I can finish the story for Book 2 as well as further the plot along for the entire series. I still have a few chapters to go, as there is always the resolution to write and this time, I have a little surprise for readers in the form of a plot twist/cliffhanger. I expect some interesting reactions to the dramatic ending to the book and I hope it will leave readers wanting more, which I will give to them in Book 3, which is mostly plotted out by now.
Writing The Forsaken, while presenting a challenge, has been extraordinarily fun. There were parts that took me completely by surprise while I was writing, and yet they may end up being significant plot points for the series as a whole, all things considered. It is fun to have the characters developed somewhat, even if some of that isn't seen due to the time gap between Books 1 and 2. I also enjoyed having blue camp to work with for the entirety of Book 2 as they were only there for half of Book 1. And with Cody being one of the main characters, I can give some of the others more page time. (is that how you say screen time in a book?) Of course, I haven't forgotten about our main four either. They are still present and relevant to the plot. Also, I brought back some characters, namely, Snare and Ring. Originally, I hadn't really been planning to, but the way things lined up, it just worked great. Oh, also there's a returning villain. I'll let you guess who that is. Said person is filling a slightly different role this time, but I think it makes for a good story.
All in all, creating The Forsaken has been awesome. There have been ups and downs, for instance I've gone at least a week without writing and yet I also managed to finish more than an entire chapter in a day, but through it all, I still enjoyed it. I hope to have the first draft finished soon, maybe in November, but by January for sure. Then it'll be off to the beta readers and the whole editing process can begin again. Big whoop.
That's all I've got to say this time so see ya!
